LLANTEROS TAKE IT ALL!

On Friday, August 14 the Llanteros defeated a determined Warriors team in the NEYSO Summer Nights championship game. After two energized halves the score was only 1-0, unusual for those accustomed to recent Llanteros blowouts.
The Warriors defeated the Llanteros earlier in the season but it had little effect on morale and may have led to a serious case of Warrior overconfidence. Danny Garcia scored in the first half with a long bullet into the corner of the arch and the Warriors took it hard. They whiffed an inside the box free kick to equalize the game early in the second half and you could almost see the fight go out of the defeated squad. The missed kick summed up the entire game. The Llanteros took shot after shot and kept the normally aggressive Warrior team in a defensive posture all night. While the Warriors remained close and aggressive, they never could deliver that final shot to send it into a penalty kick tie-breaker.
The Llanteros retired to a party afterwards at Fatso's Sports Bar courtesy of NEYSO to celebrate. The Llanteros staff would like to thank everybody at NEYSO for putting on a great league and all the players and families that made the season such a success. Plans for next season are in the works and watch for details to be posted soon.
