LLANTEROS WIN!

LLANTEROS HALT CHARGERS

AP-June 27, 2009
In a much anticipated matchup Friday night, the Llanteros soundly defeated the Chargers. The team definitively ended their losing streak with a 7-1 victory, thus ending the criticisms of disgruntled fans and staff.

The game was a very good example of sound teamwork with excellent passing and communication. The skills of the players were brought to the front and they managed to capitalize repeatedly on good positioning and the goals piled on. Larry Reyes, Jr scored three and Danny Garcia matched with another three. Raul Saucedo, a key player throughout the game with too many assists to count, contributed with the remaining goal.

Late in the game it was obvious the Chargers were getting winded and as they looked to the bench for relief they were disappointed. The story was different for the Llanteros, who showed up with nearly a full roster allowing for an almost non-stop rotation of fresh and skilled players.
This win comes after a change in the practice format where the Llanteros shifted from relaxed but focused practice sessions to a broader but much more intense program. The change apparently did some good and coaching staff said they are committed to the new format after this result.

Llanteros front office staff are working on several media projects to bring the game to more fans with highlights available on www.clubllanteros.blogspot.com
Next week is a bye week for the Llanteros. The next game will be against the Johnson Jags on July 10 at 6:30. Tickets remain available.

WARRIORS SACK LLANTEROS

AP-June 20, 2009
Last night the Llanteros arrived with a much fuller roster to play a strong under-21 Warriors team. Despite playing a strong game, the score was 4-1 with the Llanteros losing again.
The game started well for the tire men with a strong field putting the young Warriors on the defensive early. The Llanteros played an aggressive first half and managed to spend more time attacking than defending.. The Warriors were held to only one goal in the first half thanks to excellent defensive play led by keeper Efrain Wong and midfielder Paul Montemayor. While forwards Carlos Hernandez and Danny Garcia took several shots, they couldn’t get them to connect.

The second half unfortunately saw another Warriors goal followed immediately by a beautiful short goal from Llanteros forward Larry Reyes, Jr. The Warriors rallied for another two goals to finish the game 4-1.

Team management stated "We did some things very well in the first half that we didn’t do in the second. Without a doubt, we could have done some things differently, especially with our defense but we are pleased with today’s game and the score doesn’t reflect how close this game actually was."

Llanteros will be playing the Chargers next Friday at 6:55. Spirits remain high within the organization and tickets are available.

LLANTEROS OFF TO SLOW START

AP-June 13, 2009
The much loved Llanteros played their first regular season game last night against Boca Srs at McAllister Fields. The team lost 5-3 against a better conditioned and better trained Boca team despite valiant efforts in the second half.
Team management, in a post-game interview, said "Even though we lost, the game it gave us an opportunity to see the things we need to work on and to bring the team together." Some fans have criticized the staff for failing to hold pre-season practices or conditioning sessions.
Late in the half it was apparent the lack of depth on the bench was affecting a very winded Llanteros team. Missing from the field were fan favorites Albert Brosig, Larry Reyes Jr, Efrain Wong, Adam Ramos and Noe Albiso.
The Llanteros Reserve squad suffered a similar result although they were poised for a rally when the game was called by the opposing team due to darkness.
The next Llanteros game will be played this coming Friday night. Excellent season ticket packages remain and players are always available for photos and autographs immediately after the games.
