LLANTEROS HALT CHARGERS

AP-June 27, 2009
In a much anticipated matchup Friday night, the Llanteros soundly defeated the Chargers. The team definitively ended their losing streak with a 7-1 victory, thus ending the criticisms of disgruntled fans and staff.

The game was a very good example of sound teamwork with excellent passing and communication. The skills of the players were brought to the front and they managed to capitalize repeatedly on good positioning and the goals piled on. Larry Reyes, Jr scored three and Danny Garcia matched with another three. Raul Saucedo, a key player throughout the game with too many assists to count, contributed with the remaining goal.

Late in the game it was obvious the Chargers were getting winded and as they looked to the bench for relief they were disappointed. The story was different for the Llanteros, who showed up with nearly a full roster allowing for an almost non-stop rotation of fresh and skilled players.
This win comes after a change in the practice format where the Llanteros shifted from relaxed but focused practice sessions to a broader but much more intense program. The change apparently did some good and coaching staff said they are committed to the new format after this result.

Llanteros front office staff are working on several media projects to bring the game to more fans with highlights available on www.clubllanteros.blogspot.com
Next week is a bye week for the Llanteros. The next game will be against the Johnson Jags on July 10 at 6:30. Tickets remain available.
